These tools provide the means for quick optical-property characterization of liquid samples. Samples examined may be as small as 1µL, on the order of 1000 times less sample than conventional optical spectroscopy equipment. This allows one to characterize materials which would otherwise be too costly or in too limited supply. Measurement of optical absorption, fluorescence, determination of DNA concentration, and many other application-specific tests are possible.
